Biography

Daniel Toal is a self-taught wildlife photographer and aspiring filmmaker and cinematographer who specialises in documenting natural history throughout the British Isles.

Daniel is particularly passionate about wildlife and nature close to home, and focuses on self-initiated projects that celebrate a particular species, habitat or place within Cumbria and the Lake District National Park.

The natural world has played an important role throughout Daniel’s life. He spent most of his spare time outdoors in nature when he was growing up, and his fondest memories are from days on a farm, fell-walking, fishing and wild camping. Cumbria has remained Daniel’s main source of inspiration, and his early days of fell-walking in the Lake District encouraged him to pick up a camera and start photography back in the summer of 2016.

Since then, Daniel’s photographs have been shortlisted in the UK Landscape Photographer of the Year competition, and have featured in numerous articles as well as the covers of national and regional magazines. Additionally, he has created imagery for global outdoor brands, businesses and charities.
